Ilulissat Airport is a regional hub that plays a key role in air traffic to and from Disko Bay and northern Greenland. The airport serves both local travelers and the growing number of tourists visiting the area to experience its spectacular nature and world-famous icebergs.
Located just a few kilometers from the town of Ilulissat, the airport offers essential facilities and services, including a waiting area, check-in, baggage handling, and transport options to the town.
Major developments are underway: a new international airport is currently under construction and is expected to be completed by the end of 2026. This will allow for direct international flights, strengthening Ilulissat’s position as a major destination in Greenland.

There are no public buses to or from Ilulissat Airport.
If you’re staying at a hotel in town, we recommend contacting them to check whether they offer shuttle service. Many hotels work with local transport providers and can arrange pick-up and drop-off in connection with your trip.
It’s a good idea to arrange transport in advance to ensure a smooth arrival and departure.
