Nuuk Approach (Naviair), which manages air traffic in the airspace around Nuuk, will have adjusted opening hours for a period due to expected low traffic volumes and reduced staffing.
From 7 October to 19 October 2026, Nuuk Approach is scheduled to be open Monday to Saturday from 07:00 to 16:00 local time. In addition, Nuuk Approach will be closed on Sundays through to and including 6 December 2026.
The adjusted opening hours may affect the handling of certain flights during these periods. If operational circumstances require it, for example due to weather conditions, Naviair will ensure that the necessary staffing is in place to support air traffic operations.
When Nuuk Approach is closed, Nuuk Airport will remain open, but the restrictions applicable to air traffic at Nuuk Airport will apply. Only flights operating while Nuuk Approach is closed may be affected by the adjusted opening hours. Traffic volumes are expected to be limited during the affected periods, and air traffic operations will be managed in cooperation with the parties involved.
Greenland Airports is working with the relevant stakeholders to ensure the smoothest possible air traffic operations during this period.
Passengers are advised to check with their airline for the latest information regarding their journey.

One of the navigation systems at Ilulissat Airport will be temporarily out of service until October 6th.
During this period, weather conditions with reduced visibility that would normally allow an aircraft to land may, in some cases, result in changes to flight operations.
The airport has two navigation systems that help aircraft land safely:
The ground-based system is primarily used when visibility is poor, for example during fog, heavy rain, or low cloud cover. As a result, the minimum approach altitude will be increased from 195 metres to 300 metres until the end of September – approximately 100 metres higher than normal.
The maintenance work and the timing of the temporary outage have been coordinated with the airlines operating at Ilulissat Airport.
Flight safety remains unchanged, and flights will only operate when weather conditions meet all applicable safety requirements.
We recommend that passengers stay updated on the status of their flight directly with their airline.
