Experienced CEO to lead Greenland Airports into its next phase

Following the completion of Greenland’s new airports, Greenland Airports is entering a new phase, with its focus gradually shifting from construction to operations, development and long-term value creation. To lead this next stage, the Board of Directors has appointed Jeppe Jensen as the company’s new Chief Executive Officer, effective 1 November 2026.

With the opening of Nuuk Airport and Qaqortoq Airport, and the upcoming inauguration of Ilulissat International Airport, the foundation has been laid for a new era of aviation in Greenland. The next chapter is about realising the full potential of these major investments and unlocking the opportunities they create for the country.

The focus in the years ahead will be on ensuring safe and stable operations, continuing the development of Greenland’s airport network, and creating lasting value for travellers, businesses and society.

To lead that effort, the Board of Directors has appointed Jeppe Jensen as the company’s next CEO. He succeeds Jens Lauridsen, who has led the construction and commissioning of the three new airports and whose contract concludes following the opening of Ilulissat International Airport.

Jeppe Jensen is a well-established executive in Greenlandic business and has served as CEO of KNI A/S since 2021. Previously, he was part of the executive management team at Mittarfeqarfiit and has also held senior leadership positions at Tusass.

A natural next step

According to Chairman of the Board Jens Willumsen, the appointment reflects the natural evolution of Greenland Airports.

“Greenland Airports is entering a natural new phase. Over the past years, our focus has been on developing Greenland’s new airports. In the years ahead, our priority will be to realise their full potential through safe operations, continued development and improved accessibility. That requires a different leadership focus, and we have therefore sought a CEO with the right experience and capabilities to lead Greenland Airports through this next stage.”

He emphasises that Jeppe Jensen combines deep local knowledge with leadership experience from several of Greenland’s most important companies.

“Jeppe brings extensive experience in leading large organisations and managing critical infrastructure. At the same time, he has a strong commercial mindset that will be valuable as Greenland Airports continues to evolve. His profile is an excellent match for the company’s next phase as a critical infrastructure provider committed to creating even more opportunities for Greenland.

I would also like to take this opportunity to thank Jens Lauridsen for his outstanding contribution to Greenland Airports. What began as the task of building three new airports evolved into the merger of Kalaallit Airports and Mittarfeqarfiit to create the Greenland Airports organisation we know today, while also leading the transition from construction to operations. Jens has led that journey with great dedication, creating the strong foundation on which Jeppe will now build.”
