landmark year for Greenland Airports

2024 was a landmark year for Greenland Airports with the opening of the new international airport in Nuuk on November 28.
The airport represents an important step in strengthening Greenland’s accessibility, promoting business development, and creating new opportunities for growth and tourism.

“With the new airport, Greenland has gained a modern gateway to the outside world. It is a historic event that benefits the entire country,” says CEO Jens Lauridsen. He also highlights the significant efforts made by employees and partners across the organization in connection with the opening.

The year was also marked by organizational changes, including the merger of Greenland Airports Construction A/S with Greenland Airports Regional A/S. This has had accounting implications in the form of technical adjustments related to the Qaqortoq project, which is still under construction.

In addition, good progress has been made on the major infrastructure projects in Ilulissat and Qaqortoq, where both construction and equipment preparations are on schedule. Both airports are expected to open in 2026 and will have a significant impact on mobility, tourism, and business.
